Areas Of Practice & Noteworthy Cases | | | Firm Philosophy | Historically, our firm has had several partners or senior attorneys and a large staff who focus on a relatively small number of cases. The Law Office of W. C. Gentry presently applies the same philosophy to selected cases by associating a team of attorneys or coordinating with other counsel to bring all necessary resources to bear on complex litigation. | Motor Vehicle / Trucking Accidents |  W. C. Gentry has tried and settled hundreds of motor vehicle cases, specializing in trucking accidents and complex accident reconstruction. The most recent noteworthy recovery was in 2007 for a young man who was rendered quadriplegic as a result of a chain reaction multiple truck/car collision in a construction zone. A settlement of over $21 million was reached against the contractor and subcontractors who failed to comply with traffic safety rules at the construction site.
| | Product Liability |  W. C. Gentry has tried and settled numerous complex product liability cases. In the early 1980s, he obtained the first seven figure verdict in Florida against Ford Motor Company in a steering defect case. Since that time, our firm has made numerous multimillion dollar recoveries for persons injured by defects in automobiles, health care products, medical devices and other products. Because of his experience in product liability cases, W.C. Gentry was asked to play a major role in the State of Florida's case against the Tobacco Industry in which a multibillion dollar settlement was obtained.
| | Wrongful Death |  Wrongful death is any death resulting from misconduct by another person or company. Wrongful death can be the result of auto accidents, work-related accidents, medical errors, product malfunctions, food or drug reactions and other negligent acts. Our firm has successfully handled and obtained multimillion dollar recoveries in all of these areas.

Appeals and Constitutional Law |  W.C. Gentry has handled numerous appeals in the appellate courts of the State of Florida. Most of our firm's appellate work has been involved with cases it handled at trial. However, on occassion, our firm has undertaken appeals of cases handled by other trial lawyers who do not handle appellate work. In addition, W.C. Gentry has been involved in several constitutional law cases, including the most recent representation of the Florida Senate in a constitutional challenge to education appropriations, (The School Board of Miami-Dade, Florida vs. James E. King, Jr., in his official capacity of President of the Florida Senate, et al.).
| | Construction and Commercial Litigation |  W.C. Gentry has been involved in complex construction litigation cases, including cases involving building roof collapse, as well as personal injuries suffered on construction sites. Over the years, our firm has also been associated in complex commercial litigation involving the defense of individuals or privately held companies. Whenever brought into commercial litigation, we focus on our client's business interests and undertake to achieve the most expeditious and cost effective handling of the litigation.
| | Insurance |  Sometimes an insurance company unreasonably delays payment of benefits, fails to provide coverage or fails to settle a case within the limits of the insurance policy. Our firm has handled numerous suits to enforce rights under insurance policies. We also represent individuals who are sued to make sure their insurance company fully protects them from an excess judgment. Our firm has also prosecuted insurance companies for “bad faith” when they have breached their obligation to their insured and subjected them to personal liability.
| | Professional Liability |  Professional Liability arises when a lawyer, doctor, accountant, or other professional fails to comply with the standards of his or her profession and causes personal injury, death, or economic damages. W.C. gentry has substantial experience in handling professional liability claims, particularly in the area of medical malpractice, and has also served as personal counsel to lawyers and physicians who have been charged with professional liability.
